90 more students, largely from India, held from fake US university.

The arrested students were enrolled in an imitation university created by the US government to inspect immigration fraud, a media report has said.

The ICE had in March arrested 161 pupils from the imitation university established by it.

The latest news of the arrest of further 90 students lately, first reported on Tuesday by the’Detroit Free Press’, has led to outrage using #AbolishICE hashtag gaining ground on Twitter and other social networking platforms on Wednesday. According to a ICE spokesperson of the 250 students arrested up to now,”nearly 80 percent have been granted voluntary death and departed the United States.”

Of the remaining 20 percent, about half of them have obtained a last order of removal, the official was quoted as stating. Federal prosecutors assert that the pupils knew this was a fake university as there were no classes.

Senator Elizabeth Warren, a top Democratic presidential candidate, described the movement as”barbarous”. “That is cruel and dreadful,” she said in a tweet. “These students simply imagined becoming high quality higher schooling America can provide. ICE deceived and entrapped them, just to deport them,” Warren explained.

ICE had registered a criminal charge sheet from eight recruiters. Seven of these have cautioned. These eight recruiters have been indicted for conspiracy to commit visa fraud and harbouring aliens for gain by the US Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan. Students enrolled in the university, a significant number of whom were from India, came to the US legally on a legal visa issued by the US embassy in India.

The US”trapped the vulnerable people who only wished to maintain (legal ) status,” Rahul Reddy, a Texas lawyer who represented or advised a number of the pupils told Detroit Free Journal. The fake university charged for a graduate programme and also the cost around USD 2,500 percent is USD 1,000, the daily reported.
